Hello, world!

Welcome to my Coding Corner — a space where I share random side projects and interactive tools. Here you’ll find work that blends biology, ecology, and data science, showcasing how I am teaching myself to use code to explore complex ecological questions. I have a lot to learn, so feel free to critique!

Click on the link above and check out where and when Centris pallida bees have been spotted in and around the Sonoran Desert. Click the blue dots to get details about each sighting. Data points are pulled from iNaturalist observations. Map made using the leaflet package in R (Cheng et al., 2025).

I got tired of reading job descriptions.... so I built my first, simple interactive web app using R and Shiny that extracts and displays key terms from job descriptions. Try it out below!!!

Colorful Scissors

Coming soon....

I am working on another interactive app that allows users to upload csv files with information on wet body mass and dry body mass of an insect; from this my app will calculate critical water content (CWC) and return results in a table! Useful if you always mess up these calcs like me.... ;-)

Secondly, I am really interested to upgrade my keyword finder with a pre-trained language model and classify keywords into topic areas. AI! Scary! Cool!!!
